Regal Boats History
Regal Boats first started out as Regal Marine Industries back in 1969. The boat building company was founded by Paul and Carol Kuck and began production with the help of investors Gene Kandel and Clark Prudhon. The first three models produced were a 14-foot ski boat, 17-foot tri-hull, and a 21-foot cuddy.
Regal moved their headquarters to Orlando, Florida in 1971 and completed their first overseas shipment in 1976. In 1995 Regal designed & created the award-winning FasTrac hull. The boat builder received a J.D. Power and Associates Award in multiple categories from 2006 through to 2009.
Regal 46 Sport Coupe Overview
The body and Deep Vee hull of the Regal 46 sport coupe are made from a combination of fiberglass and resin. She is 46ft long, has a beam of 14ft, a draft of 3ft 6in, and a dry weight of 25,298 lbs. The decking is made of Amtico marine flooring for maximum grip on deck.
You can board the Regal 46 sport coupe from either the port or starboard side thanks to a clever seating configuration. The center bench seat has a backrest that swings forward, converting it into an aft-facing sun lounge. There is a large storage area beneath the bench seat that is accessible from both the seating area and the swim platform. All cockpit seats have storage areas beneath them.
This sport coupe also includes a movable rear corner seat that can be placed on the port or starboard side. You can completely remove the rear corner seat if you want access to port and starboard side walk-throughs at the same time. The Regal 46 sport coupe also includes a large swim platform and transom shower.
Helm Station
The helm station is located on the starboard side of the Regal 46 and includes an electrically-adjustable helm seat. There is an innovative teak platform that helps improve vision as the Regal ‘gets up on plane’. The platform swings down and raises the helm floor level four to five inches. Another great innovation from Regal Yachts.
Other features of the Regal 46 sport coupe include a tilting wood rimmed steering wheel, analog gauges, garmin monitors, VHF radio, and Fusion stereo system. There are also remote controls for the audio system, speakers, and cabin roof overhead lighting.
An Alfresco Touch
A unique feature of the 46ft Regal is its electrically retracting sunroof which can be opened via a switch on the dashboard. The helm station can be easily converted into an ‘alfresco ambience’. You just need to pull back the two large side windows and big glass door in the aft bulkhead, then swing-out the windshield walkthrough. The overall design is incredibly convenient and is topped off with air conditioning. This innovative design is a huge leap forward from the use of canvas and zippers!
Aft of the helm station is the wet bar. The wet bar includes a Corian countertop, Vitrifrigo refrigerator & icemaker, and an optional Kenyon electric grill. There is a rotating, fold-down LG TV positioned above the wet bar which can be viewed from the port-side U-shaped lounge.
Regal 46 Sport Coupe Saloon
As you enter the saloon there is an L-shaped, multi-function settee to port side. There are also numerous cabinets above the settee that are ideal for storage.
The starboard side galley includes an Isotherm refrigerator/freezer and Contoure convection grill microwave. There are various drawers (including roll-out drawer for dishes), several lockers, and a space for a coffee maker. The forward section of the galley includes a wall hung flat TV and speakers.
Natural light to the saloon is provided by two large hullside windows (one on both port and starboard sides). There are also numerous air-conditioning plenums to keep guests cool on hot days. The Regal 46 Sport Coupe saloon interior has a high gloss finish and workmanship is absolutely flawless!
Regal Sport Coupe Master Stateroom
The master forward stateroom has an innerspring queen birth for superior comfort. It also boasts an entertainment system and flatscreen TV. There are two large storage drawers below the queen birth and bin storage beneath the mattress (for the various removable tables). The Regal 46 Sport Coupe also offers cedar-lined port & starboard hanging lockers, and overhead storage lockers.
The master head (ensuite) has an enclosed shower stall thanks to the use of hinged acrylic panels. There are deck and porthole hatches that can be opened for extra light and ventilation.
Regal Sport Coupe Aft Cabin
The aft cabin consists of two single berths plus a filler cushion, to convert the single berths into a queen birth. There is a dressing table vanity and head located on the port side of the Regal 46 Sport Coupe aft cabin. This cabin also has a cabinet with two large storage bins and doors that conceal an optional Splendide washer and dryer combo.
Regal 46 Sport Coupe Performance
At the heart of the Regal 46 Sport Coupe are Volvo Penta turbocharged diesel marine engines. Access to the engines is made via the cockpit hatch which is electronically raised by the flick of a switch. The engine compartment is well laid out and includes a 12V Chargemaster battery charger. There are various engine options available such as the twin Penta IPS500 engines (760hp total) and the twin Penta IPS600 engines (880hp total).
The Regal 46 sport coupe cruises at 24 knots and can reach top speeds of around 35 knots. She comes equipped with joystick control and Bennett trim tabs. Steering always feels light and responsive at any speed. Close-quarters maneuvering is easily handled using the joystick control.
This Regal model has a 328 galon fuel tank, a 101 galon fresh water tank, and a 48 galon holding tank. She has a passenger capacity of 14 and can sleep up to 6 passengers overnight.
