The History of Astondoa Yachts
The shipyard has a long and illustrious history. In 1916 the brothers Jesús and José Astondoa Martinez worked from a small carpentry store in Portugalete, Spain. At that time the carpentry store designed and produced rowboats.
After the Spanish civil war Jesús Astondoa dedicated his time to build both fishing and recreational boats. Jesús Astondoa´s son, Jesús Astondoa Santamaría, joined the family business in 1944, and soonafter took control of the business. The shipyard gained national recognition due to their well-constructed wooden boats with high-quality finishes.
Eventually the family’s 3rd generation, Jesús Astondoa Santamaría´s children, also joined the family business. In the early 1980´s the Spanish boat builder experimented with resin and fiberglass construction. The Spanish shipyard then began to design and create boats made of polyester resin and reinforced fiberglass.
Astondoa gracefully transitioned from the wooden yacht age to become one of Europe’s leading composite motor yacht builders. The company embraced technical advancements and put itself at the forefront of the yachting industry. The Spanish boat builder has designed and produced luxurious yachts for many years, thoroughly deserving its place in the industry.
This Spanish boat manufacturer has remained a family-run company and has been a big part of history. During the years it has constantly created new innovations and introduced new features. So let’s take a look at some of the company´s most famous models.
Astondoa formed the Century line to mark its 100th anniversary, starting with the 110 Century. The 110 Century provides open spaces, making it ideal for nautical family getaways. The 110 has areas to socialize, sunbath, relax, dine, and enjoy the thrill and exploration of watersports. Designers made excellent use of every inch of exterior and interior space.
The Astondoa 67 (older brother of the Open Line) was created with adventure in mind. This yacht cleverly mixes architecture, creativity, and efficiency with a high degree of passenger comfort. Its appealing sporty profile has been outfitted with many amenities to easily handle the longest trips. The interior is similar to those of larger models, tastefully styled, and providing premium comfort.
The 80 GLX is a natural evolution from the popular 76 GLX, bigger in all aspects. Interior volume, a highly desired feature, was increased to provide passengers with more room and comfort. This beautiful yacht comes with many extras, including a jet ski and 2 zodiac boats. Design can be tailored to the preferences of the yacht owner.
Top Deck 51
The Top Deck 51 was built as a day boat, the perfect yacht for a full day out on the water. Aft space on the main deck includes a hot tub, but it can also be used for extra seating. The Top Deck 51 provides performance and comfort that all passengers can get to enjoy.
